Which insulation should I choose for installation?

Added: Wednesday, 8/4/2021

Modern insulation of sanitary, heating and hot water installations should not only guarantee the reduction of energy losses during transmission, but also ensure safety, e.g. in the event of a fire. The solution that meets these requirements is Tubolit DG Plus from Armacell - a flexible polyethylene insulation with a closed cell structure.

Selection of insulation for heating, sanitary and ventilation installations

Lack of professional knowledge or excessive savings mean that the choice of insulation for heating, sanitary or ventilation installations often remains a matter of chance. Meanwhile, the use of inappropriate lagging leads to waste of energy and money. High-quality products that have been properly selected can not only minimize losses during medium transmission, but also improve the efficiency of devices, which translates into reduced costs. Importantly, thanks to their properties, they guarantee protection against water vapor condensation, freezing, fire spread, and also reduce noise emanating from the installation. Legal requirements are also an important issue. Polyethylene insulation will be a good choice. In accordance with applicable regulations, ventilation ducts should be made of non-flammable materials, and thermal and acoustic insulation used in water supply, sewage and heating installations should guarantee non-spread of fire (NRO). All these requirements are met by Tubolit DG Plus insulation from Armacell. It is a flexible closed-cell lagging for heating and sanitary installations. The innovative Armacell product is made of polyethylene foam, which is a fire-retardant material [NRO]. It guarantees very low smoke emission during a fire - in the case of insulation with a thickness of 6 to 25 mm, the reaction to fire class is BL-s1,d0, while for lagging with a thickness of over 25 mm, this value is set at CL-s1,d0. It is also worth emphasizing that the temperature range of Tubolit DG Plus is from 0°C to +100°C, thermal conductivity λ40°C = 0.040 W/(m·K). The lagging is now available in as many as 36 new sizes, so it can be easily adapted to multi-layer, plastic and steel pipes.

Tubolit DG Plus insulation for sustainable construction

Tubolit DG Plus insulation from Armacell is not only characterized by high technical parameters, but is also extremely environmentally friendly. The product has a compliance card with BREEAM and LEED certificates, i.e. multi-criteria building assessment and protection systems that promote sustainable construction and a healthy working environment and are currently a standard on the real estate market. Tubolit DG Plus insulation meets, among others: appropriate emission level of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) - the total VOC content is below 0.3 mg/m3, and the total content of semi-volatile organic compounds is below 0.1 mg/m3. Tubolit DG plus was also properly sourced, as confirmed by ISO14001 certificates for the supply chain process (polymer) and the key process (insulation production). The product also has high durability parameters - its service life is longer than 50 years and it can only be damaged by external interference or during installation. Let us remember that Tubolit DG Plus by Armacell is only a part of the systems in the building. But thanks to the use of appropriate design parameters, it allows for a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of the installation and increases fire safety in the building.
