Safe and solid installation with Conex Banninger gas fittings

Added: Monday, 11/20/2023

The first press connectors began to be used in the 1990s, although they were mainly used in sanitary installations supplying cold and hot water. The attention of designers and users was drawn to the possibility of obtaining an accurate, durable and tight connection, which resulted in the dynamic development of this technology also in other installations, including gas installations.

Norms and safety standards for B Press Gas fittings

The introduction of press connectors required the adjustment of national law to unify Polish, European and international standards. As a result, paragraph 163 of the regulation on technical conditions, which relates directly to press connectors, has new wording. The fourth paragraph describes where and under what conditions such connectors may be used.

The above provision, combined with the amendment to the PN-EN 1775:2007 standard, made the use of press connectors in gas installations not only possible, but also common, of course under certain conditions.

Thanks to this, B Press Gas gas fittings series 5000 and 4000 have been put into general use on the basis of the declaration of conformity.

Materials:

  • Conex Banninger B Press Gas Reducing Tee 35 x 28 x 35 CU Copper alloy connectors are made of bronze (material number CC 499K according to the PN-EN 1982 standard);
  • Copper connectors are made of phosphorus-deoxidized copper - type CU-DHP (material number PN-EN 12165 CW024A).

It should be added here that the links are subject to constant and demanding production control and supplementary tests of samples taken at the production plant.

Connector tests include, among others:

  • Tightness of samples after clamping;
  • Resistance to temperature fluctuations;
  • Mechanical strength;
  • Thermal resistance;
  • Vibration resistance;
  • Bending strength;
  • Torsional strength.

The certificate of conformity, which is the basis for marking connectors with the B construction mark, is issued on the basis of continuous supervision of the connector production processes, their assessment and acceptance.

Application of B Press Gas fittings

B Press Gas gas fittings are used for gas fuel installations. As a rule, the design of the joints is to prevent leakage and facilitate assembly work.
The connectors are equipped with external and internal threads that meet the following standards:

  • Connection threads according to ISO 7-1 and PN-EN 10226-1. External conical and internal cylindrical threads;
  • Parallel fastening threads according to ISO 228.

Individual elements are clamped using an appropriate tool and "B" profile jaws.

Features of connections using B Press Gas press connectors:

  • Durability and mechanical strength,
  • Avoidance of axial (skewed) pipe insertion and damage to the sealing element thanks to the cylindrical pipe guidance in the connector in front of the O-ring (in front of the O-ring);
  • Conex Banninnger B Press Gas 28 CU end cap Patented sealing ring with the PI (Press Indicator) system in the following modes: "unpressed - leaking";
  • >B< Press Gas connectors made of copper and copper alloys are intended for connecting hard, semi-hard and soft copper pipes according to the PN-EN 1057 standard;
  • Possibility of connection with various types of installations via transition fittings;
  • Continuous operation temperature up to -20°C to 60°C;
  • Operating pressure maximum 5 bar;
  • Long operational period (manufacturer's warranty up to 25 years).
  • All Conex products meet the requirements regarding the type of metal used (copper and its alloys) and the materials from which the seals should be made.
