A plastic sewage well consists not only of a shaft pipe, a base and a manhole, but also of many different accessories. These include: telescopic tubes, covers, hole cutters, channel steps and in situ inserts and seals. It is this last element that we will take a closer look at today. Find out what an in situ seal is and how it is used in external sewage systems.

What is an in situ seal?
The Latin "in situ" means "in place." This phrase can be found in medicine, archaeology, construction, chemistry, IT, biology, environmental protection and - of course - hydraulics! In sewage networks, the term "in situ" refers to a type of drilled connection outside the well base. An inlet pipe is usually connected to sewage sumps, septic tanks and other tanks. To obtain a perfectly tight connection, you need an in situ gasket, also called an inlet gasket or inlet flange gasket.
It is installed before installing the pipe, in self-drilled or ready-made, prefabricated holes. A properly selected and installed product ensures absolute, long-term tightness of the connection. Made of high-quality, flexible and durable plastics, in situ seals are characterized by increased resistance to atmospheric factors, ozone and UV radiation. They are easy to install, can be easily stretched and withstand operation at both high and extremely low temperatures very well.
The use of in situ seals in external sewage systems
An in situ gasket is used to seal and secure the connection between a pipe and a tank, e.g. a sewage or water meter well, a home sewage treatment plant, a rainwater tank, a sewage pumping station, etc. Thanks to the use of an in situ gasket, the liquid (often contaminated) does not escape from the outside of the tank. nor does it penetrate into its interior. The special shape of the profile and the stresses occurring in the seal translate into long-term tightness of the connection. This is important for environmental protection, the safety of tank users and the efficiency and durability of the installation.
