Application and Operating Principle in Large Installations

This coupled cold water meter has been designed for facilities where water demand is highly variable – ranging from minor leaks to sudden, high flows. Thanks to the MWN/JS-S construction, the device effectively handles measurement in industrial installations, hospitals, schools, hotels, as well as in multi-unit buildings equipped with hydrant connections. The key to its effectiveness is the combination of two measurement mechanisms: the main (turbine) and the bypass (vane).

The system automatically switches between these two flow paths depending on the water intensity. When consumption is low, water flows through the bypass, precise vane turbine, allowing for the registration of even minimal streams. At high flow rates, the path through the main turbine mechanism opens, protecting delicate components from damage and ensuring measurement stability. Consequently, the device features a wide measurement range and a low starting threshold, which is crucial for accurate billing in facilities with irregular consumption.

Construction, Installation, and Environmental Resistance

The device body is made of cast iron, guaranteeing the high mechanical strength necessary in difficult industrial conditions. The meter is suitable for both horizontal and vertical installation, although the standard recommendation indicates horizontal pipelines with the register facing upwards (designation H). The DN 80 flange connection facilitates integration with existing pipe installations. It is worth noting the working length of 300 mm (a 350 mm version is also available), which allows adaptation to specific spatial requirements during network replacement or modernization.

The device operates with water temperatures up to 50°C and withstands a working pressure of up to 16 bar (PN16). Standardly, the register has an IP65 protection rating, ensuring resistance to splashes and dust. For remote data reading purposes (AMR systems), the body is prepared for the installation of a communication overlay or pulse transmitter. There is also the possibility to order a version with an IP68 register (submersible tightness), which increases operational safety in locations exposed to direct contact with water or moisture.

Key Operational Parameters

Technical requirements for this model are strictly defined and correspond to the needs of DN 80 installations. The device handles a continuous water flow of 63 m³/h with a measurement range factor of R300, indicating high flexibility in registering both small and large consumption doses. The construction based on a painted cast iron body ensures durability at a working pressure of PN16.

For installers, the mounting dimensions are critical – the working length is 300 mm, and the flange connection enables quick connection to a standard pipe network. The dry register system and anti-magnetic protection of the drive mechanism guarantee reliability even in the presence of strong magnetic fields. An additional value is the device's preparation for remote data transmission systems (AMR), which eliminates the need for manual reading of the IP65 register. Measurement precision is supported by automatic switching between the main and bypass sections, minimizing the risk of errors during sudden flow changes – for example, when starting pumps or using hydrants.
