Professional Ball Valves for Gas Installations
The MIÑO gas ball valve with a 1-inch diameter (1 GW x GW) is a specialized isolation device designed for the safe control of gas flow in domestic and industrial installations. The device is used for manually opening and closing the gas supply in assembly lines that are not buried in the ground or built in a way that prevents access. A key element of its design is the full bore, which eliminates hydraulic resistance and prevents pressure drops at the installation point, which is particularly important when working with gases of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd families according to EN 437. The valve is characterized by high resistance to a wide range of operating temperatures, from -40°C to +60°C, which allows it to be used both indoors and on building facades or in external areas exposed to varying weather conditions, provided there is no risk of the medium freezing at pressures below 0.1 bar.
Brass Construction and Sealing Systems
The valve is constructed using European brass, which meets the stringent requirements of EN12164 and EN12165. This material guarantees adequate mechanical strength and corrosion resistance, which is fundamental to the safety of a gas installation operating under pressure. The maximum permissible operating pressure (MOP) is 5 bar, which classifies the device as an element resistant to typical loads occurring in low and medium-pressure distribution networks. The tightness of the construction is ensured by the use of a double sealing system. External tightness is achieved thanks to a double O-ring seal, which effectively isolates the medium from the environment even in the event of vibrations or temperature changes. Inside the valve, seals made of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) are responsible for stopping the flow. This material is characterized by excellent chemical resistance to gases and a low coefficient of friction, which translates into a long service life of the sealing system with frequent valve operation.
The valve is operated using a handle with a "1/4 turn" system. This mechanism allows for quick and precise switching of the flow state (open/closed) without the need for multiple turns of a key or lever. The full bore means that the internal diameter of the channel is equal to the diameter of the threaded connections (1 inch), which minimizes turbulence in the gas flow. If it is necessary to protect the installation from unauthorized opening, the handle is equipped with a special hole that allows the valve to be sealed in the closed position. This is a standard solution required by many health and safety regulations and industry standards for control points in gas networks.
Application and Compatibility with Locking Systems
The MIÑO P0104 valve is used as a linear element in gas installations, where its main task is to isolate sections of the network or end devices during maintenance or emergency work. Due to the fact that the elements in direct contact with the gas cannot be disassembled after the device has been installed (one-piece construction), the valve eliminates the risk of leaks resulting from incorrect assembly of parts during repair - the operator can only rotate the ball using the handle. The device is compatible with the anti-tamper locking system (SBA - System Blokowania Manipulacji) available from the ARCO manufacturer. This allows for additional protection of the handle against manipulation without the need for external padlocks or additional mounting accessories, which increases the aesthetics and functionality of an industrial or municipal installation.
It is worth emphasizing that the valve is not suitable for installation buried directly in the ground or for installation under plaster or an insulating layer without access to the control mechanism. Its intended use includes domestic and industrial installations located inside buildings or on their facades, where the ambient temperature is between -40°C and +60°C. When working with a seeping medium (e.g., condensate), the risk of freezing at very low operating pressures (<0.1 bar) should be taken into account. The valve meets the requirements of the European standard EN 331 for ball valves for natural gas and other gaseous fuels, which confirms its operational safety under standard conditions in distribution networks.
