Dual-source domestic hot water heating

The MEGA SOLAR W-E 500.82N dual-source storage tank is a vertical device designed for heating and storing domestic hot water in installations equipped with two independent heat sources. The design with two heating coils allows for simultaneous or sequential use of, for example, a solar installation with a central heating boiler or a fireplace with a water jacket - which allows for maximum utilization of available energy and independence from a single source.

A capacity of 500 liters (storage 462 l) is suitable for single-family houses and small public utility buildings where the demand for hot water is increased. The tank operates in a vertical position - the total height is 1855 mm, diameter 830 mm, and depth 895 mm.

Two coils with different power outputs

The upper coil with a surface area of 1.6 m² achieves a power of 26 kW at parameters 70/10/45°C, which translates to a heating capacity of 640 liters per hour. The lower one - larger and more efficient - has a surface area of 2.13 m², a power of 34 kW, and a heating capacity of 855 l/h. This configuration allows for flexible management of heating priorities: the lower coil can serve the main heat source (e.g., a boiler), while the upper one takes over the supporting function from solar collectors.

The maximum working pressure of the entire tank is 10 bar, while the coils themselves withstand 16 bar - this must be taken into account when selecting other installation components. The maximum temperature of the tank is 85°C, and the coils 110°C.

Anticorrosion protection and thermal insulation

The tank, made of ceramic-enameled steel, is protected against corrosion using an insulated magnesium anode - a standard solution for this type of device, which effectively protects the enameled surface from degradation. The manufacturer also provides the possibility of installing a titanium anode as an alternative for demanding operating conditions.

Thermal insulation made of special EPS30 polystyrene ensures low standby losses at a level of 99 W, which means relatively small daily energy losses while the tank is not actively working. The insulation is removable - this is an important feature both for transport (reducing the risk of damage) and during potential servicing.

Additional equipment and access

The tank is equipped with a temperature gauge allowing for a current reading of the heated water status without the need to open the device. The Ø120 mm inspection opening provides access to the interior of the tank during inspections or cleaning. The connection for mounting an electric heater allows for expanding the installation with an additional heat source - useful especially in summer, when the solar installation generates the most energy.

The external casing made of plastic protects the insulation from mechanical damage and simplifies maintaining the cleanliness of the external surface.

The MEGA SOLAR series also includes models with capacities of 220, 300, 400, 750 and 1000 liters, allowing for the selection of the optimal tank for the scale of a specific investment - from smaller houses to commercial or public utility facilities requiring a larger domestic hot water reserve.
