After rehydration, the microorganisms contained in the preparations consume dead organic matter which is their source of food. The decomposition products of inanimate organic matter are used as an energy source for the reproduction and growth of the bacterial population and the organic pollutants are transformed into safe end products.
All bacteria included in the preparation were selected from natural populations that originally lived in soil and surface waters. These microorganisms do not pose a threat,
