Fire-resistant telecommunications cable YnTKSY 6x2x0.8 TN0009
Application in Security and Alarm Systems
This fire-resistant telecommunications cable of type YnTKSY is designed for permanent installation in systems where signal transmission reliability is critical at the moment of fire detection. Its primary purpose is to support fire alarm systems (FAS), including connections to detectors, linear modules, and autonomous fire suppression systems. Thanks to its self-extinguishing properties and high resistance to flame propagation, these cables are essential for the operation of emergency devices such as ventilation control systems, elevators, and smoke exhaust systems. They are classified according to EN 50575 (CPR) as cables intended for operation at the moment of "0" fire detection, meaning they must function correctly even under conditions of direct fire hazard.
Construction and Resistance to External Conditions
The cable construction is based on solid Class 1 copper conductors with a cross-section of 0.8 mm², insulated with specialized PVC compound. The conductors are twisted into pairs, and these pairs form a common core – this structure minimizes electromagnetic interference during analog and digital signal transmission. The outer sheath, made of self-extinguishing PVC compound, has an oxygen index above 29%, ensuring high flame resistance in accordance with EN 60332-1-2 and EN 60332-3-24 (Category C). The red color of the sheath not only distinguishes the fire protection installation but also facilitates its identification during maintenance work.
The cable is designed for operation within a wide temperature range: from -40 °C to +70 °C during service. However, during installation, the cable must be laid at a temperature not lower than -5 °C to avoid damage to the insulation or sheath due to material brittleness at low temperatures. The minimum bending radius is 10 times the cable diameter, which must be considered when planning installation routes in distribution cabinets or technical ducts.
Benefits for Installation and Electrical Parameters
Thanks to the use of conductors with a cross-section of 0.8 mm² and a specific pair construction (6 twisted pairs), the cable offers a low loop resistance of up to 75 Ω/km and inter-conductor capacitance not exceeding 120 nF/km. These parameters guarantee stable data and control signal transmission over longer distances without significant quality loss at a rated voltage up to 150 V. The electrical strength of the insulation is tested with an AC voltage of 1500 V or DC voltage of 2250 V, confirming safe operation under demanding environmental conditions.
In practice, this means:
- Fire Safety: The cable does not propagate fire and has self-extinguishing capability after removal of the ignition source (Cat. C).
- Reliability at the Critical Moment: It operates effectively during the initial phase of a fire, ensuring communication between the control panel and fire protection devices.
- Application Versatility: Suitable for both control signal transmission (e.g., ventilation shutdown) and powering peripheral devices of alarm systems.
- Mechanical Durability: Resistant to atmospheric and chemical conditions due to the high-quality PVC compounds used in the insulation and outer sheath.
Installation of this cable requires compliance with bending radius rules and temperature conditions during laying, ensuring long-term and trouble-free operation of the building's security system throughout its service life. The manufacturer provides a warranty for the product for a period of 24 months from the delivery date, provided that storage and installation conditions comply with the technical documentation.
