Water meter remote reading module – reliable consumption monitoring

The RFM-MB1 module is an M-BUS overlay designed for GSD8-RFM series water meters, enabling remote reading of water consumption data. The device is powered by the M-BUS bus, and in the event of a power failure, it ensures autonomy thanks to a lithium battery that lasts for one year. This ensures that data is safely stored and available after power is restored, even in the event of a power failure.

The module communicates using the MBUS protocol (compliant with PN-EN13757-3), and its address is programmable, allowing for easy integration with existing remote reading systems. The minimum reading is 1 liter, ensuring accurate measurement even of small flows. The reading is performed using an infrared sensor. The whole is protected by a housing with a protection class of IP65, guaranteeing resistance to dust and moisture – an ideal solution for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Application and functionality

The RFM-MB1 module not only collects water consumption data, but also monitors potential attempts to manipulate the device. Alarms inform about:

• module removal,
• low battery level,
• presence of a magnetic field (attempt to disrupt the measurement),
• reverse flow (detection of irregularities in the installation),
• exceeding the maximum flow rate (Qmax).

Displayed data includes the MBUS address, manufacturer and device type information, as well as alarms and warnings. The reading frequency is programmable, allowing you to adapt the module's operation to individual needs. A 3-meter 2-wire cable is included with the module to facilitate connection to the M-BUS system.

Configuration and installation

Module configuration is available for water meters along with the modules - MBUS addresses must be provided together with the water meter. Installation is simple and intuitive, and the device is intended for mounting only on GSD8-RFM series meters. It is recommended to place the module in a location that makes manipulation difficult.
