Clamp Meter for Precise Measurements in Challenging Conditions
This device solves one of the most common problems encountered when working with electrical installations – the difficulty of accurately measuring current in thin wires. Thanks to the unique AmpTip™ function, the clamp features a special notch in its upper part, enabling precise measurement of AC currents up to 60 A even in wires with small diameters. This is not only a matter of convenience but primarily a necessity when diagnosing control systems or lighting circuits, where standard clamps often cannot accommodate sufficiently small cables. However, if there is a need to measure very small DC currents (up to 2000 µA), the device also offers classic lead inputs, eliminating the need to carry an additional instrument.
Safety and Advanced Measurement Functions
In industrial environments, safety is a priority; therefore, the meter has been designed for operation in CAT III 1000V and CAT IV 600V categories. The high level of overvoltage protection (8 kV) and overload protection (1100 V on inputs) ensures confidence during measurements in main distribution boards or near motors. The device is also immune to voltage spikes thanks to peak value recording functions:
- PEAK-rms holds impulses lasting 80 ms or longer on the display, which is crucial for analyzing disturbances.
- CREST mode records peak values with a 5 ms response time.
- The MAX/MIN/AVG function allows tracking parameter changes in real time without the need to continuously monitor the screen.
For installers working with three-phase motors, the phase rotation test function is essential. The meter offers two sensitivity levels: high for checking motor rotation direction without voltage, and standard for testing the electrical network. Additionally, non-contact voltage detection (EF-Detection) allows quick localization of AC live wires (50/60 Hz) in the range of 10–1000 V, speeding up work and increasing safety against electric shock.
Application and Measurement Versatility
This model covers a wide range of diagnostic needs, combining basic measurements with advanced True RMS functions. Thanks to the low-pass filter (LPF) and VFD mode, the device correctly measures voltage and current even in installations with inverters and frequencies deviating from the standard 50 Hz. The set also includes the ability to measure temperature (from -40°C to 400°C), resistance up to 60 kΩ, capacitance up to 2500 µF, and frequency up to 1 kHz. The backlit LCD display with 6000 counts resolution ensures readability of results even in poorly lit areas, such as distribution cabinets or basements.
Key device capabilities include AC current measurements up to 1000 A using the clamp method and AC/DC voltage measurements up to 1000 V. For precise diagnostics of thin circuits, an AC current range up to 60 A is available thanks to AmpTip™ technology, while for very small DC currents, lead inputs support up to 2 mA. The device also handles resistance up to 60 kΩ, capacitance up to 2500 µF, and temperature in the range of -40°C ... +400°C. All these functions comply with safety standards for categories CAT III 1000V / CAT IV 600V, making it a universal tool for electricians working on both simple installations and complex industrial systems.
The device is compact (dimensions approx. 94 x 44 x 258 mm) and lightweight (approx. 312 g), facilitating transport to heights or hard-to-reach locations. Power is supplied by two AA batteries, and the automatic power-off function saves energy during work breaks. This tool is designed for professionals who require a single device for comprehensive electrical installation diagnostics – from simple continuity checks to disturbance analysis in motor control systems.
