Overcurrent switch – reliable protection of electrical installations

This three-pole overcurrent switch from the AZ series, model AZ-3-C125, is a key element of every safe and efficient electrical installation. Designed by the renowned company Eaton, it provides effective protection against overloads and short circuits in circuits with a rated current of 125A. The device finds wide application both in residential and industrial buildings.

Characteristics and application

The switch is characterized by a tripping characteristic of type C, which means that it is particularly well suited for protecting circuits powering devices generating high inrush currents – such as motors or transformers. This minimizes the risk of unnecessary tripping of the installation when starting these devices. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity of 15kA (at 230V and 400V) guarantees a quick and safe response in the event of a failure. The IP20 degree of protection protects against accidental contact with conductive parts and against the ingress of solid objects with a diameter of more than 12.5 mm.

Construction and mounting

The switch is designed for mounting on a DIN rail, which facilitates its installation and replacement. Compact dimensions (width 4.5 modules) allow for efficient use of space in the switchgear cabinet. The possibility of connecting wires with a cross-section from 2.5 mm² to 50 mm² provides flexibility when selecting appropriate cables. Rated voltage 400V AC and rated insulation voltage Ui at 440V ensure safe operation in standard electrical installations. The operating frequency range of 50-60 Hz makes the device compatible with most power grids. The ambient temperature in operating conditions is from -25°C to +55°C, which allows its use in various environmental conditions.
