Motor starter with push-button drive – reliable motor protection
This three-pole PKZM01-20 motor starter from Eaton is a robust solution for protecting electric motors in industrial and commercial installations. Designed to operate at 440 V, it provides effective protection against overload and short circuit, minimizing the risk of damage and downtime. This starter combines protection functions with ease of use thanks to its push-button drive.
Construction and application
The PKZM01-20 starter is designed for DIN rail mounting and is characterized by its compact dimensions (45 mm wide, 90 mm high and 93 mm deep). Its thermal-magnetic tripping method guarantees a quick response to abnormalities in the circuit. The rated continuous current of 20 A and the short-circuit breaking capacity of 50 kA at 400 V AC make it suitable for protecting motors with a power of up to 9 kW (AC-3, 400 V) and 5.5 kW (AC-3, 230 V). Phase failure sensitivity further increases the safety of operation of the protected devices.
This starter finds application in:
- Protecting electric motors in industrial machines and equipment.
- Power supply installations for pumps, fans and other devices requiring overload protection.
- Commercial buildings, such as workshops, production halls or shopping centers.
- Where reliable protection of electrical circuits powering motors is required.
Key features and benefits
- High short-circuit breaking capacity (50 kA): Ensures quick disconnection of the circuit in the event of a short circuit, minimizing the risk of equipment damage and fire.
- Adjustable overload setting range (16-20 A): Allows precise adjustment of the protection to the characteristics of the load, preventing unnecessary tripping.
- Push-button drive: Facilitates quick manual disconnection of the circuit in emergency situations or during maintenance.
- Phase failure sensitivity: Protects motors against damage caused by the absence of one of the supply phases.
- Solid construction: Guarantees long-lasting and reliable operation in harsh industrial conditions.
- Screw connection: Ensures a secure and durable connection of wires to the starter.
- Protection class IP20: Protection against touching live parts and against the ingress of solid objects larger than 12.5 mm – standard protection for devices mounted in enclosures.
- Power loss at 5.82 W: Indicates relatively low energy consumption by the starter itself during operation.
