Motor starter – reliable motor protection

This three-pole motor starter PKZM01, with a current setting range of 6.3-10A, is a key element in protecting electrical installations powering motors. It provides effective protection against overload and short circuit, protecting both the motor and the other components of the circuit. Its compact dimensions (45 mm wide, 90 mm high and 93 mm deep) allow for easy installation even in limited space.

Functionality and application

The PKZM01-10-EA starter is characterized by a thermal-magnetic tripping method. This means it reacts to both the temperature increase caused by overload and the sudden increase in current in the event of a short circuit. Phase failure sensitivity further increases the safety of the installation, preventing damage to the motor caused by voltage asymmetry. The rated short-circuit breaking capacity at 400V AC is as high as 50kA, which guarantees reliable operation in difficult conditions. The starter is designed to operate at a rated voltage of 440V AC and has a rated operating power of 4kW for AC-3 (motor circuits).

Construction and characteristic features

The device is made as a permanently mounted element and has screw connections for the main contacts. The lack of an integrated undervoltage release or auxiliary contacts allows for flexible adaptation to specific application needs. It should be noted that the EA series replaces the previous PKZ series in the range of 170 positions, offering a more favorable price while maintaining identical technical parameters and dimensions. It is also worth mentioning the lack of marine certificates in the new EA series. The power loss of the starter is 6.48W.
