The PFR2-03-U trip unit is a component used to protect electrical circuits from the effects of overloads and short circuits. Designed by Eaton, a manufacturer with an established position in the market, it provides effective protection for electrical installations in residential and commercial buildings. Its compact dimensions – 4 modules wide – allow for easy mounting in distribution boards.

Functionality and application

The PFR2-03-U trip unit, with a rated current of 25A and sensitivity A, is designed to work with overcurrent circuit breakers, acting as a subordinate release. This enables selective protection of the installation, minimizing the risk of unnecessary power outages in the event of a failure on less critical sections. The use of U characteristic makes it particularly suitable for protecting circuits with receivers with high starting current, e.g. electric motors. The possibility of mounting on a DIN rail facilitates and speeds up installation.

Constructional features and parameters

The construction of the trip unit ensures high reliability and durability. Made of materials resistant to environmental conditions (operating temperature from -25°C to 60°C) and with a degree of protection of IP20, it guarantees safe operation in standard operating conditions. The impact current withstand of 5kA and the short-circuit withstand capacity (Icw 10kA) testify to its solidity and effectiveness in emergency situations. The trip unit is adapted to work in AC networks with a voltage of 400V and an insulation voltage Ui of 440V. The rated impulse withstand voltage Uimp is 4kV. The possibility of additional equipment allows adaptation of the trip unit to specific installation requirements. Single-wire conductors with a cross-section from 1.5 mm² to 35 mm² and multi-wire conductors from 1.5 mm² to 16 mm² can be connected without any problems. The color of the housing (RAL 7035) blends into the surroundings of the distribution board, providing an aesthetic appearance.
