Insulated mast for horizontal conductors – protection and safety of the lightning protection system

This insulated mast, made of durable aluminum, is a key element of the lightning protection system. It serves to protect metal elements of the roof and equipment such as skylights, air conditioners, or ventilation units from the effects of atmospheric discharges. Its construction allows for effective discharge of lightning current to the ground, minimizing the risk of damage and ensuring safety.

The mast acts as a support for the Aldrey wire, stretched between lightning protection masts. Finished with a 1-meter long insulated rod, it allows mounting near the protected device, maintaining the required insulation distances. The design allows for through mounting of two Aldrey wires, increasing the flexibility of the installation. It should be remembered that the distance between masts connected by the Aldrey wire should not exceed 8 meters.

Construction and application

The mast is intended for use in lightning protection systems for buildings and industrial facilities. Made of aluminum, it provides durability and corrosion resistance. Its versatility makes it suitable for both new installations and modernization of existing lightning protection systems. Thanks to the possibility of mounting two Aldrey wires, one mast can serve a larger protected area. The reinforced construction ensures stability even in strong winds.

Appropriate mounting brackets (e.g. 66000105) should be selected for the mast, adapted to the specifics of the substrate and mounting location. Installation requires the use of a 17mm and 13mm flat wrench and M8x12 and M8x25 compression screws (depending on the configuration). For masts higher than 4 meters, the use of additional connectors and compression screws is recommended. Remember to use mounting adhesive to increase the stability of the connections.
