Grounding pins as building grounding – what do you need to know?

Grounding rods are a very important element of grounding installations, guaranteeing protection against atmospheric discharges and their consequences – mainly overvoltages in the electrical network. One of the most popular types of grounding are pin grounding rods, i.e. a system of pipes and rods driven deep into the ground, connected to a grounding wire. They are usually used in single-family houses. How to properly arrange vertical grounding electrodes?

A vertical earthing rod in the form of a metal rod is driven deep into the ground, remembering that its tip should reach the soil layers that maintain a constant level of moisture (usually a depth of about 3 meters). Since one rod is not able to provide adequate protection for an average-sized building, several of them are most often used, thus creating a vertical earthing system.

It is worth remembering that the distribution of vertical earthing rods should be as even as possible. It is assumed that the distance between individual rods cannot be less than the height of one earthing rod (single rod).
