Composite suspension insulator SDI90.150
Composite suspension insulator – reliability and durability in medium voltage networks
The SDI90.150 suspension insulator is an element designed for use in overhead medium voltage (MV) lines. Made of durable composite material, it provides effective mechanical and electrical insulation, guaranteeing safe and reliable network operation. It is a proven component offered by ENSTO, a renowned manufacturer of solutions for the energy industry. Its design and materials ensure high resistance to weather conditions and pollution, which translates into long life and minimal operating costs.
Construction and operating parameters
This insulator is characterized by a solid construction designed for demanding operating conditions in power networks. A diameter of 86 mm and a length of 396 mm provide appropriate dimensions for mounting in standard configurations. A weight of 0.99 kg facilitates transport and installation. The breaking load strength reaching up to 70000 kN confirms its reliability even in extreme situations. The rated voltage of 24000 kV guarantees safe operation in medium voltage networks.
- Composite material: Provides high electrical insulation as well as resistance to corrosion and mechanical damage. Compared to traditional ceramic insulators, composites are lighter and less prone to cracking.
- Pollution resistance: Pollution level 1 indicates good performance in environments with a moderate level of contamination.
- Creepage distance: A creepage distance of 391 mm increases resistance to surface flashover, especially in humid conditions.
- Impulse withstand: Min. lightning impulse withstand voltage (dry conditions) is 126 kV, and power frequency impulse withstand voltage (in rain) is 57 kV – demonstrating high resistance to sudden voltage changes.
Application and compatibility
The SDI90.150 insulator is widely used in the construction and modernization of medium voltage lines, both suspension and tension. It is compatible with various types of conductors, including AFL-6, AAL, AALXSn and AAsXSn and PAS/SAX-W. It can be used in insulator strings with different configurations (LP/1, LP/2, LP2/1, LP2/2), as well as in combination with through-corner or tension cable brackets. This offers great flexibility in the design and installation of power networks.
