Cable glands (sometimes also called glands) and cable glands are used to insert cables into electrical cabinets, switchboards and electrical equipment. They are designed to partially stiffen the introduced section of the cable in order to protect against mechanical damage, and in some cases they are designed to protect the cable and the interior of the cabinet or electrical device against possible contamination that may penetrate through the hole through which the cable is inserted. Plastic chokes - used wherever there may be significant increases in induction currents, there is no great risk of mechanical damage and no rapid temperature increases.
