Properties of NH fuse links for drive protection

The NH000 aM 80A/500V fuse link is a specialized protection device designed to protect electric motor supply circuits and switchgear. It features an aM tripping characteristic, which provides effective protection against short circuits while allowing for the seamless startup of devices with high inrush currents.

The product belongs to the WT-NH series from ETI POLAM and is manufactured in the standard NH000 size, guaranteeing compatibility with most fuse bases available on the market. Thanks to the KOMBI-type dual operation indicator, the user receives full information about the fuse status both visually (red eye) and mechanically (spring plate).

High-quality construction and materials

The fuse body is made of steatite - a ceramic material with high thermal stability that maintains its properties even under extreme current loads. The blade contacts are made of silver-plated brass, ensuring excellent electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Aluminum covers protect the internal components from external factors, and the entire unit is hermetically filled with specially granulated quartz sand. This design guarantees a high breaking capacity and stability of electrical parameters throughout the entire service life.

Operating parameters and electrical characteristics

The rated current of 80A at a voltage of 500V AC allows for application in most medium-power industrial applications. The fuse link is characterized by a rated breaking capacity of 120kA, making it suitable for installations with high short-circuit currents.

The aM characteristic (motor short-circuit protection) reacts more slowly to short-term current surges, ensuring it does not interrupt normal motor startup, yet effectively protects against dangerous short-circuit conditions. Power losses are only 4.2W, which minimizes energy losses during normal operation.

Application and system compatibility

The product is primarily intended for the protection of contactors, relays, and electric motors against the effects of short circuits. Due to its partial-range characteristic, it requires cooperation with additional overcurrent protective devices for full circuit protection.

Thanks to the standard NH000 size, it is compatible with all typical fuse bases as well as HVL and KVL fuse-switch disconnectors. The dual indicator also enables integration with remote signaling systems via NVS 5 microswitches.

The fuse link complies with the requirements of international standards IEC 60269-1 and IEC 60269-2, as well as the German standard VDE 0636-2011. It is classified as EC000055 according to the ETIM standard, confirming its belonging to the category of professional NH fuse links.
