Knife fuse links – reliable installation protection
Knife fuse links are industrial devices designed to protect electrical installations from the effects of short circuits and overloads. This model, designated NH1C gG 40A/400V, meets the requirements of PN-93/E-06160 (gF), PN-IEC-269 and VDE 0636 standards, guaranteeing its reliability and safety of use. This fuse is characterized by a time-delay characteristic, which means it allows for short-term exceeding of the rated current without disconnecting the circuit – an ideal solution for devices with motors or other loads with high starting current.
Design and product features
The fuse has been designed with durability and functionality in mind. The body is made of durable steatite, providing thermal stability. Silver-plated knife contacts guarantee excellent conductivity and minimize the risk of corrosion. Aluminum covers provide additional protection against external factors. The inside of the fuse is filled with specially granulated quartz sand, which translates into a high short-circuit breaking capacity – up to 120 kA – and stable electrical parameters.
- Dual tripping indicator: a combination of a red eye in the central part of the ceramic body and a springy plate on the top cover makes it easy to quickly identify a blown fuse.
- Remote signaling capability: the indicator in the top cover allows cooperation with the NVS 5 microswitch, enabling remote monitoring of the fuse status.
- Easy installation: the silver-plated knife contacts are designed to ensure easy mounting in a fuse base or fuse disconnector.
- Safety of use: insulated handles (NH…/I…) are available to increase safety during fuse replacement.
Application and compliance with standards
The NH1C gG 40A/400V fuse is used in a wide range of industrial and energy installations where reliable protection against overloads and short circuits is required. It is a universal solution for protecting electrical wires and devices with a time-current characteristic corresponding to traditional time-delay fuses (gG). The product meets the requirements of IEC 60269-1 and IEC 60269-2 standards, confirming its compliance with European safety and quality standards. Additionally, it has a short-circuit breaking capacity at the level of 10500 A²s (pre-arcing Joule integral) and 2900 A²s (total Joule integral), which proves its effectiveness in emergency situations.
