Medium voltage fuse links – reliable installation protection

VV fuse links are a proven element of protection in medium voltage networks, designed to protect cables, transformers, motors and capacitor banks from the effects of short circuits and overloads. The construction of these fuse links guarantees a quick and effective response in the event of a failure, minimizing the risk of damage and downtime in the installation.

The VVC3 12kV/6.3A fuse link is characterized by a high breaking capacity of 50 kA, which ensures its effectiveness even in the event of high short-circuit currents. Designed for AC circuits, it provides solid protection for various electrical devices. Made of high-quality materials, including a high-strength ceramic tube and silver fuse elements, it guarantees long-term and trouble-free operation.

Construction and application

VV fuse links are distinguished by a reliable sealing system that protects against moisture and corrosion. Galvanically protected contacts and caps made of electrolytic copper coated with nickel ensure excellent electrical connections and minimize energy losses. The improved contact cap facilitates the replacement of the fuse link during maintenance or repair. In addition, a striker with a force of 50N indicates the operation of the fuse link and activates the tripping mechanism of power fuses.

It is worth noting the possibility of using VVT-D3 fuse links equipped with a thermal trigger – these models react not only to short-circuit current but also to an increase in the temperature of the fuse link body to approx. 120°C. This solution is particularly useful in SF6 gas switchgear, where traditional protection may be less effective. Cold resistance at 435 mΩ and power loss of 21W demonstrate the energy efficiency of this solution.
