VV fuse links are a proven protection element in medium voltage networks. Designed to protect electrical and power equipment MV – lines, cables, transformers, motors or capacitor banks – against the effects of short circuits and overloads. The construction of the fuse links provides both thermal and dynamic protection, and in the VVT-D3 versions additionally protects against uncontrolled temperature increases thanks to a built-in thermal trigger.

Construction and application

VV fuse links are characterized by a solid construction, using a high-strength ceramic tube and contacts protected galvanically and coated with nickel. The fusing element is made of silver, which guarantees reliable operation. The striker, depending on the model (VVC3 or VVT-D3), has a force of 50 N or 80 N and signals the operation of the fuse link, enabling the activation of the tripping mechanism of fuse disconnectors. The VVT-D3 version with a thermal trigger activates the striker when the fuse link body reaches a temperature of approximately 120°C, regardless of the cause of overheating.

It is important to select the appropriate fuse link for a specific application, taking into account the rated current (31.5 A in this case) and the rated voltage (10/24 kV). The minimum breaking current I₃ is 3 A, which means that the fuse link may not operate correctly below this value. The cold resistance is 52 mΩ and the power loss Pn is 75 W. The pre-arcing integral I₂t min is 1400 A²s and the maximum breaking integral I₂t max is 15000 A²s.
