LPC Capacitors – Effective Reactive Power Compensation

LPC capacitors are a reliable solution for reactive power compensation in electrical installations. They are designed for use with inductive loads such as transformers, electric motors, rectifiers, and fluorescent lamps – both individually and in automatic capacitor bank systems. Using LPC capacitors allows for improved energy efficiency and reduced losses in the network.

Construction and characteristic features

LPC capacitors utilize metallized polypropylene film with low losses, providing self-regeneration and long life. These are dry-type capacitors filled with environmentally friendly polypropylene resin, which effectively dissipates heat. The housing is made of aluminum and equipped with overpressure disconnectors to ensure safety. The LPC 1.5 kVAr model has connector connections (faston), which facilitates quick and secure installation.

Safety and protection

Safety is a priority. LPC capacitors are equipped with discharge resistors that reduce the voltage at the terminals to a safe level (75V) within a maximum of 3 minutes after disconnection from the power supply. In addition, the internal overpressure disconnector protects the capacitor bank from damage caused by overvoltages or other irregularities in the network. This makes the installation more resistant to failures and ensures continuity of supply.

Technical parameters and application

The LPC 1.5 kVAr capacitor is designed to operate in 400V networks at a frequency of 50Hz (60Hz version available on request). Its rated capacitance is 9.9 µF, and the rated current is 2.2A. The diameter of the capacitor is 60 mm, and the length is 200 mm. Both vertical and horizontal mounting is possible (additional support is recommended for horizontal mounting). The capacitor has a Delta connection. The operating temperature range is -25 to +55°C.
