LPC Capacitors – Reactive Power Compensation for Efficient Installation
LPC capacitors are a reliable and proven solution for reactive power compensation in electrical installations. They are used both in individual loads (transformers, motors, rectifiers, lighting) and in automatic capacitor bank systems. Using LPC capacitors improves the power factor, reduces energy losses and load on the power supply network, and ultimately – lowers electricity costs.
LPC capacitors with an internal delta (∆) connection are made of high-quality, self-regenerating polypropylene film with low losses. The dry-type construction, filled with environmentally friendly polypropylene resin, ensures excellent heat dissipation and long-term reliability. Aluminum housings contain overpressure disconnectors, protecting against failures. Models with various types of terminals are available – connector (up to 5 kVAr) and screw (above 5 kVAr), which facilitates installation and integration with existing infrastructure.
Construction and characteristic features
LPC capacitors are distinguished by a solid construction and attention to detail. The internal overpressure disconnector protects the capacitor bank from serious damage in the event of a failure of one of the elements. Additionally, the capacitors are equipped with discharge resistors, which ensure a safe voltage reduction on the terminals after disconnection from the power supply (to a level of 75V within a maximum of 3 minutes), in accordance with PN-EN-61048, PN-EN-60252 and EN-60831-1/2 standards. Thanks to the use of metallized polypropylene film, the capacitors exhibit a self-healing ability – minor insulation damage is repaired, which extends the life of the device. The possibility of mounting both vertically and horizontally (horizontal mounting requires additional support) increases installation flexibility.

The LPC 25 kVAr capacitor, with a rated voltage of 440V and a frequency of 50Hz, is characterized by a capacitance of 3x137 µF and a rated current of 32.8A. It is designed to operate at temperatures from -25°C to +55°C. Screw terminals ensure a secure connection to the electrical installation. Thanks to its parameters, it is ideal for improving the power factor in various industrial and commercial applications. It is important to match the capacitor power to the network voltage – the capacitor power at the operating voltage is calculated based on the formula: (Ue / Un)² * Q = Qf where: Ue - network voltage; Un - rated capacitor voltage; Q - capacitor power at rated voltage; Qf - actual capacitor power.
