Three-phase current transformer, with Modbus RTU output MAX-MB-3I-1-5A
Three-phase current transducer with Modbus RTU communication
The MAX-MB-3I-1-5A current transducer is designed to measure current in three-phase circuits. It is used in energy consumption monitoring systems, building automation, and industrial applications requiring precise measurement of electrical parameters. Thanks to the Modbus RTU output, the transducer allows easy integration with SCADA systems, PLCs and other devices equipped with an RS-485 serial interface.
Features and application
The device is mounted on a standard DIN TH-35 mm rail, which facilitates its installation in electrical panels. The transducer is configurable, allowing it to be adapted to specific application requirements. The measurement is performed directly – the transducer works with current transformers with a secondary current of 5A. The final value of the current measurement range is 5A, and the rated frequency is 50 Hz.
The transducer finds application in:
Energy consumption monitoring systems
Building automation (BMS)
Industrial applications (e.g., motor control, power measurements)
Energy management systems
Electrical power quality control
Functionality and communication
The transducer offers Modbus RTU communication via the RS-485 port, allowing reading of measurement data and configuration of the device from a computer or other master device. Configuration of communication parameters (transmission speed, data bits, parity) is possible using the dedicated MB Config service program (available separately). The operating status is indicated by LEDs – the green U LED indicates power supply, and the yellow Tx LED indicates correct data exchange. The device has an address range from 1 to 247.
Additionally, the transducer measures the TrueRMS effective current value, which ensures high measurement accuracy even with distorted waveforms. Resetting the communication settings is possible using a code switch on the device housing – detailed information can be found in the user manual.
