Time relay PCU-518 – external potentiometer for precise adjustment

The PCU-518 time relay with external potentiometer ZP-18 is a reliable device for time control in industrial and home automation. It enables the implementation of delayed-on, delayed-off and cyclic operation functions, making it a versatile solution in many applications – from ventilation and heating systems to lighting and signaling. The external potentiometer provides convenient and precise time adjustment, adapting the relay's operation to the specific needs of the installation.

Functionality and application

The PCU-518 relay offers four operating modes:

• Delayed-off (A): After the supply voltage is switched on, the contact switches over and the time measurement starts immediately. After the set time has elapsed, the contact returns to its initial position.
• Delayed-on (B): The contact remains in its initial position for the set time after the supply voltage is applied, and then switches over.
• Delayed-off – cyclic (C): Delayed-off operation is performed at regular intervals of work and pause.
• Delayed-on – cyclic (D): Delayed-on operation is performed at regular intervals of work and pause.

Thanks to this, the relay is suitable for applications requiring both one-time delays and cyclic control processes. Mounting on a 35 mm rail facilitates integration with existing automation systems.

Technical characteristics and construction

The device is characterized by a solid construction and high reliability. It has one NO/NC switching contact with a maximum load current of 8A. The use of screw terminals with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² ensures safe and durable electrical connections. The IP20 protection class guarantees protection against finger contact, which increases safety. It is worth noting the possibility of smooth time adjustment in the set range thanks to the use of an external potentiometer ZP-18 with a resistance of 100 kΩ. The potentiometer has a connection cable with a length of 70 cm and a mounting box with dimensions of 83 x 42 x 30 mm with a mounting hole Ø10 mm. The potentiometer spindle has a height of 30 mm and a diameter of Ø6 mm.
