Phase sequence and phase failure protector – reliable motor protection
The CKF-BT sensor is a device designed to protect three-phase powered electric motors. It protects against the effects of voltage loss in one or more phases and voltage asymmetry, which can lead to motor damage. Additionally, the sensor prevents the motor from starting in an unwanted direction if the phase sequence changes. This is a comprehensive solution for installers and users who value the safety and reliability of their equipment.
Functionality and application
CKF-BT monitors the motor's power supply, reacting to two main threats:
- Phase failure: In the event of a voltage loss in any phase, the sensor switches off the motor after a set delay (adjustable in the range of 0.5-15 seconds). The delay prevents accidental motor shutdown due to momentary voltage drops.
- Voltage asymmetry: When the voltage difference between phases exceeds the set threshold (40-80V), the sensor also switches off the motor. Voltage asymmetry can be caused by various factors, such as uneven phase loading or damage to the power supply network.
The device is particularly useful in industrial applications, workshops, and anywhere where electric motors need protection against failures caused by power supply problems. Thanks to its compact size (2 modules – 35 mm wide), it is easy to mount on a standard TH35 rail.
Characteristics and benefits
- Adjustable operating time: The ability to adjust the shutdown delay time (0.5-15 seconds) allows you to optimize the sensor's operation in different applications and avoid unnecessary shutdowns.
- Phase sequence control: Ensures the correct motor rotation direction by blocking start-up if the phase sequence changes before the sensor.
- LED indication: Two LEDs indicate the power supply status and correct phase sequence, facilitating diagnostics and maintenance of the installation.
- Solid connections: The use of screw terminals with a cross-section of 4.0 mm² guarantees secure and durable connection of wires.
- Wide voltage range: The sensor works with networks with a voltage of 190-270V, ensuring compatibility with most electrical installations.
- Mounting on TH35 rail: Standard mounting on a 35 mm rail simplifies integration with existing electrical switchboards.
- No external power supply required: The device draws power directly from the monitored three-phase network (power consumption 1.6W).
Thanks to these features, the CKF-BT is not only a protective element but also a tool that facilitates the diagnostics and maintenance of the electrical installation.
