Priority relay – reliable installation protection
The PR-614 priority relay is a device designed for mounting on a DIN rail, designed to work with current transformers. Its main task is to provide priority power to specific receivers, protecting the installation from overload in the event of simultaneous switching on of several high-power devices. This is an ideal solution for both installers and end users who want to be sure that the most important circuits will always have access to energy.
Functionality and application
The PR-614 relay finds application everywhere where there is a risk of overloading the electrical installation due to the simultaneous switching on of several receivers. It is particularly useful in situations where it is necessary to ensure uninterrupted power supply for critical devices, such as heating systems or heat pumps. Thanks to cooperation with a current transformer, the relay monitors the current draw in the priority circuit and automatically disconnects the non-priority circuit if the set value is exceeded. This simple but effective solution avoids unplanned failures and ensures safe use.
Characteristics and benefits
- Load prioritization: allows you to set the current draw threshold, above which the non-priority circuit is disconnected, ensuring continuous power supply for important receivers.
- Cooperation with a transformer: adapted to work with current transformers with a secondary current of up to 5A, which increases flexibility and scope of applications.
- DIN rail mounting: facilitates quick and safe mounting in electrical switchboards.
- Compact dimensions: takes up only 1 module (18 mm), allowing you to save space in the switchboard.
- Wide power supply voltage range: operates at 230V AC, making it compatible with most electrical installations.
- Durability and reliability: solid construction ensures long-lasting and trouble-free operation of the device.
- Overload protection: protects the circuit against overload and short circuit - like most circuit breakers in this class.
- Rated current (control contacts): 15A allows you to control larger loads.
- Protection class IP20: provides basic protection against touch and dust.
Thanks to these features, the PR-614 relay is a reliable tool for every installer and a guarantee of safety for the end user. Let's remember that the correct selection of a current transformer is crucial for the correct operation of the entire system – the actual setpoint current is the product of the value set on the scale and the transformer ratio. For example, with a receiver with a power of 140A and a transformer of 150/5A (ratio 30) and a setting of 2A on the scale, the relay will operate at an actual current value of 60A (2A x 30 = 60A). It should also be remembered to limit the measurement input current to 5A (terminals 4-6).
