RS-485 to USB converter - replacement for discontinued WE-1800BT MAX-CN-USB-485
Universal RS-485 to USB Converter
This converter enables communication between devices with an RS-485 interface and a computer or server via a USB port. It is a "transparent" converter, meaning it does not introduce any changes to the transmitted data – it simply passes it on. It will be useful wherever you need to connect older devices to a modern IT infrastructure.
Easy Installation and Operation
The converter is very easy to install. Simply turn off the power, connect terminals A and B to the RS-485 device according to the markings, and then connect the USB to the computer or server. After connecting, the drivers will install automatically. For Windows 10 and 11 systems, for converters of the CH01 series (serial number is on the housing), it may be necessary to install an older version of the driver (3.4.2014.8) available on the manufacturer's website.
Construction Features and Operating Parameters
The converter is compact – its dimensions are 60x28x12 mm – which makes it easy to mount in a limited space. The connections are made using screw terminals, accepting wires with a cross-section of 2x0.5mm². The tightening torque should be 0.4 Nm. The device operates in a wide temperature range, from -20°C to 50°C, which ensures reliability in various environmental conditions.
Key Advantages
- Two-way communication: enables both receiving and sending data via the RS-485 interface.
- Transmission speed: 9600 kBit/s – ensures stable communication in most industrial and building automation applications.
- Simple installation: automatic driver installation makes it easy to start up the device.
- Compact dimensions: facilitate mounting even in tight spaces.
- Wide operating temperature range: guarantees reliable operation in various environmental conditions.
- No overcurrent protection: remember to protect the installation against the effects of short circuits and overloads by other means (e.g. fuses).
