Relay output expansion module with MODBUS RTU communication

This expansion module, only 1 module wide (18mm), allows you to increase the functionality of control and automation systems. It serves as an external device expanding the relay outputs of PLCs or other devices using the MODBUS RTU protocol for data exchange. This is an ideal solution when you need an additional relay output in an existing system without having to replace the entire controller.

Versatile application and functionality

The MR-RO-1 module offers a controllable relay output (NO/NC contact) and a range of operating modes tailored to different needs. Configuration options include ON/OFF control, delayed activation, cyclic operation, and state memory and auto-start functions. This makes it successfully used in applications requiring precise control of loads, such as lighting, heating, ventilation or alarm systems. Communication is via the RS-485 port using the MODBUS RTU protocol, ensuring reliable data exchange with the master system.

Design and technical parameters

The module is designed for mounting on a 35mm rail and is characterized by compact dimensions (70 mm x 89 mm x 65 mm). It is equipped with 2.5 mm² screw terminals with a tightening torque of 0.4 Nm, ensuring safe and durable electrical connections. The output current is 16A, and the supply voltage accepts a range from 9 to 30 V DC. This makes the module compatible with a wide range of power sources and loads. It is worth noting the possibility of configuring communication parameters (transmission speed: 1200÷115200 bit/s, data bits: 8, stop bits: 1 / 1.5 / 2, parity bits: EVEN / ODD / NONE) and addressing (1÷247), which allows integration of the module with various MODBUS RTU systems.

Additional information for installers:

• The module has LEDs indicating the power status (green U) and communication (yellow Tx), which facilitates diagnostics and servicing.
• Configuration programs (e.g. MB Config) are available to allow test reading of values and setting communication and configuration parameters of the module.
• The ability to remember the output state after a power failure allows you to continue working after the voltage is restored without manual configuration.
• The auto-start function allows automatic activation of the selected operating mode after the module is powered on (configurable option).
