The VPC XXL DN1190-1240MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewage pipes with external diameters ranging from 1190 to 1240 mm. The product enables a secure and leak-proof connection of pipes made from various materials - cast iron, polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), PVC-U, stoneware, concrete, and glass-reinforced plastics (GRP).

Construction and principle of operation

The system consists of three main components working together to ensure an optimal connection. The adjustable sealing flange made of elastomeric rubber forms the heart of the sealing system and is responsible for adapting to different pipe surfaces. The centrally aligning plastic guide basket allows for precise positioning and control of the diameter reduction process.

Two stainless steel clamping bands provide bilateral, separate, and smooth adaptation of the connected materials by ensuring an even distribution of clamping forces around the entire circumference of the pipe. The design allows for a reduction in diameter difference of up to a maximum of 50 mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference.

The articulated middle part allows for separate reduction to be performed on each side of the coupling independently. The guide basket and the sealing gasket maintain a neutral position relative to each other throughout the entire assembly process, which prevents the rubber from shifting or wrinkling.

Materials and chemical resistance

The standard version utilizes an EPDM sealing gasket (ethylene propylene diene monomer) according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard and V2A stainless steel bands (material number 1.4301). This configuration provides excellent resistance to weather conditions and typical substances found in sewage systems.

The special oil- and petrol-resistant version utilizes an NBR gasket (nitrile butadiene rubber) and V4A steel bands (material number 1.4404). This combination provides particular resistance to the action of oils, petrol, and aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil.

The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids, and the material is resistant to the influence of saline seawater.

Practical application and installation advantages

The VPC XXL coupling was developed specifically for large nominal diameters and enables the secure connection of pipes with external diameters from 1000 mm to 2800 mm. The system is particularly useful for modernizing existing sewage installations, where the need to connect pipes manufactured in different technological eras is frequently encountered.

The multiple sealing profile with a width of 380 mm (insertion depth of 190 mm on each side) forms the basis for a professional, leak-proof, and secure pipe connection at pressures up to 2.5 bar. The large cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60 mm on each side guarantees an even distribution of clamping forces.

The bilateral guide channel for the fastening straps ensures their secure guidance during installation. The system allows for stepless adjustment on both sides with guaranteed resistance to shear forces in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards.
