Application and construction of the VPC XXL coupling

The VPC XXL flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewage pipes with external diameters from 1240 to 1290 mm, made of various materials such as cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, vitrified clay, concrete, or GRP. The design is based on an adjustable sealing sleeve made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 and a concentric self-aligning positioning basket made of high-impact plastic.

The system consists of two stainless steel (V2A or V4A) fastening straps, which allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials. The sealing sleeve features a multiple double sealing profile ensuring reliable sealing in accordance with PN-EN 1610. Protrusions located on the circumference allow for the correct engagement of the positioning basket into the sealing sleeve.

Technical parameters and installation capabilities

The VPC XXL DN1240-1290MM coupling enables a diameter reduction of up to a maximum of 50 mm while maintaining a concentric and uniform reduction process around the entire circumference of each side separately. Force transfer to the steel straps is carried out via a hybrid tensioner system, which requires installation with a torque of 25 Nm verified by a torque wrench.

The design provides a large cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60 mm on each side and a sealing profile width of 380 mm (insertion depth of 190 mm per side). Plastic protective profiles guarantee the dimensional stability of the component and prevent the coupling from deformation or crushing during installation.

The special V4A steel version (material number 1.4404) is resistant to oils and gasoline and is particularly resistant to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil, as well as the influence of saline seawater.

Compliance and standards

The product has DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for nominal ranges from DN100 to DN2000 and meets the requirements of PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 for EPDM material and PN-EN 1610 for joint tightness. Tightness has been confirmed by MPA institute testing to an internal water pressure of 2.5 bar for all diameters.

The couplings are manufactured with precise specification of external diameters, which guarantees a perfect fit for specific large-scale sewage installation projects.
