Flexible pipe coupling for large sewage diameters

The VPC XXL DN1270-1320MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters in the range of 1270-1320mm. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series, developed specifically for extra-large nominal widths from 1000mm to 2800mm.

Design and materials ensuring reliability

The design is based on three main components: an adjustable sealing flange made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to DIN EN 681-1 WC/60, a centrally self-aligning plastic positioning basket, and two V2A (1.4301) stainless steel clamping bands. The positioning basket is made of high-impact, crack-resistant plastic that is resistant to both low and high temperatures.

The system enables bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials thanks to a cone-shaped middle part and two integrated strap guide channels on both sides. The diameter reduction process occurs uniformly around the entire circumference while maintaining the centric alignment of the elements.

Application and material compatibility

The coupling is intended for corrugated, cast iron, stoneware, and glass-fiber reinforced plastic pipes, as well as other smooth-walled pipes made of cast iron (GGG), polypropylene (PP-MD), polyethylene (PE-HD), PVC-U, and GFK according to the relevant DIN EN standards. The design allows for the effective connection of pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials—even with significantly different external diameters resulting from different pipe construction types.

The system provides stepless adjustment under constant protection against shear loads tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. A large cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60mm on each side guarantees a professional and leak-proof pipe connection.

Operating parameters and chemical resistance

The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids (V2A). The material is resistant to oils and gasoline and is particularly resistant to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. Additionally, the material shows resistance to the effects of saline seawater.

The maximum reduction is ≤50mm, maintaining a centric reduction process separately for each side of the coupling (two-dimensional). The sealing sleeve features a multiple double sealing profile, ensuring reliable tightness according to the DIN EN 1610 standard.

The product has DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval for nominal widths of 100-2000mm and is available as a standard solution or a special oil- and gasoline-resistant version (NBR) with V4A (1.4404) steel for demanding industrial applications.
