Advanced flexible coupling for sewerage

The VPC XXL DN1340-1390MM flexible coupling is an advanced solution for connecting large-diameter sewage pipes with external diameters from 1340mm to 1390mm. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series, which has been specifically developed for nominal diameters from 1000mm to 2800mm, enabling the safe and effective connection of pipes made from various materials.

Construction and system components

The system consists of three main interacting elements. The adjustable sealing flange made of elastomeric rubber forms the heart of the sealing system. The centrically self-aligning plastic positioning basket ensures precise positioning and stability during installation and operation. Two stainless steel clamping bands allow for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials while maintaining full control over the clamping force.

The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to 50mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference. The articulated middle section enables independent reduction on each side of the coupling.

Materials and chemical resistance

The sealing sleeve is made of ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) according to the DIN EN 681-1 WC/60 standard, or in a special version made of nitrile rubber (NBR) for applications requiring chemical resistance. The alloy steel used belongs to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids - standard V2A (1.4301) or V4A (1.4404) in the oil-resistant version.

Chemical resistance includes: exposure to oils and gasoline, aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil, and the influence of saline seawater. The product holds the DIBt Z-42.5-450 certificate and has been tested for tightness up to a pressure of 2.5 bar water (MPA tests).

Applications and material compatibility

The coupling is designed to connect pipes of the same nominal diameter made from various materials: cast iron, PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), stoneware, concrete, and GRP (glass reinforced plastic). The system handles both smooth-walled and profiled or corrugated pipes.

The system utilizes a hybrid tightening system allowing for installation using a torque of 25 Nm, controlled with a torque wrench to ensure correct tensioning of the fastening bands. The design ensures coverage of a large range of diameters without the need for additional leveling rings and provides bilateral stepless adjustment with reliable shear load transfer, verified according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295.
