Innovative solution for large diameters in sewerage

The VPC XXL flexible coupling is an advanced solution designed specifically for large nominal diameters in sewerage systems. It enables the secure connection of pipes with external diameters ranging from 1000 mm to 2800 mm, made of various materials such as cast iron, PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), PVC (polyvinyl chloride), stoneware, concrete, or GRP (glass-reinforced plastic).

Construction and functionality

The system consists of three main components: an adjustable sealing collar made of EPDM elastomeric rubber according to PN-EN 681-1 WC/60, a self-centering locating basket made of high-impact plastic, and two stainless steel clamping bands in V2A (1.4301) or V4A (1.4404) oil-resistant versions.

The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to 50 mm, with the reduction process occurring uniformly around the entire circumference thanks to the articulated middle part. This innovative design allows for separate reductions to be performed on each side of the coupling, guaranteeing precise fit even with significant dimensional differences between the connected elements.

Technical advantages and practical benefits

The multiple double sealing profile with a width of 380 mm (insertion depth of 190 mm per side) forms the basis of a professional, leak-proof, and secure pipe connection. The cylindrical contact surface with a minimum width of 60 mm on each side ensures an even distribution of compressive forces around the entire circumference of the pipe.

The bilateral tape guide channel guarantees secure guidance during installation. The positioning basket and the sealing collar maintain a neutral position relative to each other, eliminating the risk of the rubber shifting or wrinkling during the diameter adjustment process.

The hybrid tensioner system allows for installation from a single position with a torque of 25 Nm, controlled by a torque wrench to ensure optimal tension of the fastening rings.

Applications and compatibility

The VPC XXL coupling is ideal for renovation work on existing sewerage installations as well as for the construction of new network sections. It is particularly useful during the repair of damaged conduits and the modernization of wastewater disposal systems.

The construction materials are resistant to oils and gasoline and are particularly resistant to aggressive substances found in sewage and soil. Additionally, the material shows resistance to the influence of saline seawater.

Requires precise specification of the external diameter by the customer before production begins.

Compliance and standards

The coupling meets the requirements of DIN EN 1610 standards regarding tightness and holds the DIBt-Zulassung Z-42.5-450 certificate for the nominal range of 100-2000mm. Tightness has been confirmed by tests up to a pressure of 2,5 bar by the MPA institute for all available diameters.

The design transfers shear loads in accordance with DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 requirements, ensuring long-lasting and reliable connections even in the difficult operating conditions typical for underground infrastructure.
