Flexible pipe coupling for sewage systems

The VPC XXL flexible coupling enables a secure and leak-proof connection of sewage pipes made from various materials: cast iron, PP, PE, PVC, stoneware, concrete, and GRP (glass-reinforced plastics). The product effectively connects pipes with the same nominal diameter but made of different materials - even with significantly different external diameters resulting from different pipe construction types.

The design is based on an adjustable sealing flange made of EPDM or NBR elastomer rubber (in the oil and gasoline resistant version), a centrically self-aligning locating basket made of plastic, and two clamps made of V2A or V4A stainless steel. This configuration allows for bilateral, separate, and smooth adjustment of the connected materials while maintaining full tightness of the connection.

Advanced design and operating mechanism

The diameter reduction occurs uniformly around the entire circumference thanks to a hinged middle part that allows for separate reduction on each side of the coupling. The design of the positioning basket and the sealing sleeve has been developed to prevent the rubber from spreading or wrinkling during diameter adjustment. While tightening the fastening straps, the sleeve automatically adapts to various external pipe diameters.

The materials used in the construction belong to grades that are particularly resistant to corrosion and acids. The coupling exhibits resistance to oils and gasoline and is particularly resistant to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil. The material retains its properties even when in contact with saline seawater.

Material versatility and system compatibility

The product is designed to work with smooth-walled and corrugated pipes. The design allows for a diameter reduction of up to a maximum of 50 mm, which covers most typical dimensional differences occurring between different pipe systems.

The use of a multiple sealing profile ensures stepless adjustment with reliable shear load transfer, tested according to DIN 4060 and DIN EN 295 standards. The large cylindrical contact surface of the pipes (minimum 60 mm width on each side) guarantees uniform distribution of clamping forces across the entire contact area.

Practical and economic operational advantages

The bilateral strap guidance system ensures secure fastening of the clamping elements throughout the product's life cycle. The cylindrical contact surface in the sealing area eliminates the need for additional leveling rings when covering large diameter ranges.

The solution allows for a significant reduction in storage costs, as one type of product can accommodate a wide range of dimensional differences between pipes from different manufacturers and material systems. Installation is simple thanks to the neutral position of the locating body relative to the sealing sleeve - no wrinkling of the rubber occurs during installation.

The product holds DIBt-Zulassung Z-42.5-450 for nominal widths from 100 to 2000 mm and meets the requirements of DIN EN 681-1 WC/60 standards for the EPDM material used in the sealing sleeve.
