Advanced solution for large sewage diameters

The VPC XXL DN1540-1590MM flexible coupling is a professional component designed for connecting sewage pipes with large external diameters from 1540 mm to 1590 mm. The product belongs to the VPC XXL series by Funke and has been specifically designed for demanding applications in underground infrastructure.

High-quality construction and materials

The coupling consists of three main components forming a cohesive assembly unit. The sealing sleeve is made of ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) according to the PN-EN 681-1 WC/60 standard, which guarantees long-term resistance to environmental conditions. It features a multiple double sealing profile ensuring tightness in accordance with PN-EN 1610.

The positioning basket made of high-impact plastic enables centric alignment of the connected materials and maintains dimensional stability across a wide temperature range. The middle part of the basket deforms conically, and the integrated tape guide grooves provide stepless diameter adjustment while maintaining a cylindrical alignment of the elements.

Two fastening tapes made of V2A (1.4301) stainless steel or in the special V4A (1.4404) version transfer the assembly force around the entire circumference of the pipe. For larger diameters, a hybrid tensioner is used, which allows assembly with a torque of 25 Nm without the need for a torque multiplier.

Versatility and material compatibility

The VPC XXL coupling was developed as a universal solution for various piping materials. It is effective when connecting pipes made of:

• Cast iron (various strength classes)
• Polypropylene (PP) - both smooth and profiled
• Polyethylene (PE-HD) in various stiffness classes
• PVC-U (various SN classes)
• Stoneware (according to DIN EN 295)
• Concrete (round and with spigot)
• GRP - glass fiber reinforced plastics

A key advantage is the ability to achieve stepless adjustment on both sides of the coupling while maintaining resistance to shear forces according to DIN 4060 or DIN EN 295 standards. The design allows for a reduction in diameter difference of up to a maximum of 50 mm, eliminating the need for additional compensating rings.

Operating parameters and certification

The product holds official DIBt Z-42.5-450 approval, confirming its suitability for use in sewage installations with nominal diameters from 100 mm to 2000 mm. Tightness has been confirmed by MPA institute tests up to a pressure of 2.5 bar.

The standard version provides resistance to aggressive substances contained in sewage and soil, as well as the influence of saline seawater. The special version made of V4A steel and NBR rubber is additionally resistant to oils and gasoline.

Installation proceeds in stages: first, both external pipe diameters are measured (1540 mm - 1590 mm), then the sleeve is placed onto the larger diameter using the provided lubricant. Once positioned, the tapes are tightened with a torque of 25 Nm using a torque wrench for the hybrid tensioner, or a torque of 17 Nm for standard tensioning clamps.
