Biogas check valve – safety and reliability in gas installations

The MAG-3/DN80 check valve is an actuator of the Active Gas Installation Safety System, designed to automatically shut off the gas supply in the event of an explosion hazard. Particularly dedicated to working with biogas from landfills or wastewater treatment plants, but it will also work in standard gas installations. Its construction allows for safe use in potentially explosive atmospheres, as confirmed by compliance with the ATEX Directive.

Application and functionality

The MAG-3/DN80 valve finds wide application in systems protecting gas installations, both in industrial facilities and public utility buildings. It will be useful in:

• gas boiler rooms,
• public buildings,
• external gas reduction and metering stations (up to 0.5 MPa pressure),
• cogeneration systems in wastewater treatment plants or landfills (BIO versions).

A key feature of the valve is its energy efficiency – it does not require power in the open or closed position. Only a short electrical impulse (12V=) is needed to close the valve, and in the event of a voltage drop, the gas flow remains unchanged. Additionally, the valve is resistant to interference and accidental opening – its operation requires conscious action.

Construction and characteristic features

The MAG-3/DN80 valve is characterized by a simple and reliable construction. It is made of durable materials, ensuring a long service life. It has a DN80 flanged connection (DN100 body with reduction) and is adapted for installation both indoors and outdoors. The set includes: an opening key, two steel counter flanges, gaskets and a set of screws and nuts. This makes installation simple and does not require additional elements. The dimensions of the valve are 325 x 257 x 270 mm. The valve also has the option of being equipped with a closing sensor (MAG-3w).
