The second tank is a biological reactor with activated sludge, where the actual biological decomposition of organic pollutants takes place. The reactor's operating cycle is divided into four 6-hour phases: filling, aeration, sedimentation, and discharge of purified wastewater and sludge recirculation. This method of operation guarantees optimal conditions for the development of microorganisms responsible for the purification process.
