Automatic power switch 4P 250A HIC425G
Power switch with automatic transfer and locking mechanism
The device enables automatic switching between two power sources — the mains and a generator — thanks to its built-in motor drive. The transfer occurs under load but is not seamless; a brief interruption in power supply occurs during the source change.
It has four poles and is designed for fixed mounting in distribution boards. The rated continuous current is 250 A, and the operating voltage ranges from 380–415 V AC. The switching capacity at 400 V is 164 kW, allowing safe control of high-power loads such as pumps, fans, or emergency systems.
It is equipped with one normally open auxiliary contact used for signaling the switch status in the control circuit — for example, to indicate whether the device is in the mains or generator position. It does not have normally open or changeover contacts.
The locking mechanism prevents simultaneous energization of both sources, thereby preventing the risk of back-feeding and damage to the installation. The device does not function as an emergency switch-off device; it lacks a manual load-breaking function. De-energization requires the operator to isolate the sources after stopping the drive.
Main contacts are connected via cable terminals, enabling direct wire connection without the need for additional distribution components. The IP00 protection rating indicates no protection against contact or dust ingress; the device must be installed exclusively within a closed distribution board enclosure.
It is classified as a main disconnector, safety disconnector, and maintenance disconnector, confirming its role in circuit isolation during servicing or fault conditions. It does not feature an optional undervoltage release or external drive; all functions are integrated within the unit.
The conditional short-circuit current is 50 kA (with gl-gG fuses), and the short-time withstand current (Icw) is 15 kA, ensuring resilience against network faults. The device is not suitable for DIN rail mounting, front central mounting, or intermediate mounting; the only permissible installation method is fixed mounting in a distribution board.
