Automatic power switch with measurement and communication

The HIC425E device is a 4‑pole power switch with an integrated motor drive and locking mechanism, designed for automatic switching between two sources in I-0-II type systems.

It does not function as an emergency stop — it lacks a “NOT-AUS” function, but serves as a main, safety and maintenance disconnect: it allows physical disconnection of the circuit during maintenance or fault, and its construction guarantees insulation in accordance with the requirements for such applications.

The motor drive is an integral part of the device — it is not optional. Thanks to it, switching occurs automatically without manual intervention, even in the absence of mains voltage.

The device is permanently mounted — it is not suitable for DIN‑rail, front, intermediate, or 4‑hole panel mounting. Installation requires a suitably prepared enclosure of the distribution board, where the device is fixedly mounted and protected from external influences.

Cable clamps allow direct connection of conductors — no additional joining elements are required.

Rated current 250 A at 380–415 V allows handling loads up to 164 kW at 400 V — sufficient for large industrial installations, e.g., pumps, fans or production lines.

The AC-23 (200 A) and AC-21 (250 A) characteristics confirm its capability to serve motors and resistive loads without overheating.

Short‑circuit capacity 50 kA and short‑time current withstand 15 kA ensure safety in the event of fault currents in high‑fault‑level networks.

IP00 protection class means no protection against dust or water — the device must be installed only in closed distribution panels, where it is protected by an external enclosure.

Communication is provided via an RJ45 interface — it allows connection of communication modules (e.g., SM213/SM214), which enable remote monitoring of network parameters: voltage, current, active/reactive power, energy balance and error diagnostics via a web server.

An additional HZI912 display can also be connected, or inputs/outputs can be programmed for load control — e.g., to switch off non‑critical equipment during a fault.

The generator test function enables automatic start‑up of a backup generator according to a set schedule — ideal for facilities requiring power continuity: hospitals, data centers or manufacturing plants.

The locking mechanism prevents accidental or unauthorized switching — the device state can be changed only deliberately and manually.

The device has no voltage trigger option or auxiliary drive — everything is built‑in and ready to operate from the moment of installation.
