Power switch with automatic transfer and communication

The device enables safe and automatic switching between two power sources – the public grid and a generator – without manual intervention. It operates in an I-0-II configuration, with three stable positions, providing clear visual status indication. An integrated motor drive performs load switching, and a locking mechanism prevents accidental position changes – both during operation and service.

Application and functionality

Primarily intended for backup power systems where a prolonged power outage cannot be allowed – e.g., data centers, hospitals, logistics facilities or industrial plants. It is not an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), so a brief interruption occurs during transfer. However, the built‑in communication and measurement functions allow remote monitoring of system status – indicating source availability, switch status and faults. It has one normally‑closed auxiliary contact that can be used for status signalling or integration with a BMS.

Construction and safety

Designed for mounting in distribution panels as a permanently fixed device. Cable connections are made via terminals – no busbars or additional linking components are required. It serves simultaneously as a main disconnect, safety disconnect and maintenance disconnect – providing full circuit isolation when opened. Short‑circuit current rating 50 kA and short‑time withstand current 15 kA ensure safety even under extreme conditions. Protection class IP00 indicates no front cover – the device must be installed only inside a closed panel enclosure. Operating power 263 kW at 400 V allows control of large loads – from motors to heating systems or pump stations.
