Power switch with LSI protection, 4‑pole, 630 A
This device is a fixed, non‑portable high‑current circuit protection, intended for installation in distribution boards or switchgear cabinets. It operates as a full‑rated power switch with three protection levels: overload (long‑time), delayed short‑circuit (short‑time) and instantaneous short‑circuit (instantaneous). It has no built‑in motor drive, but supports an optional drive — allowing remote control in automation systems.
The rated continuous current is 630 A, and the overload setting range covers values from 250 A to 630 A — it can be precisely adjusted to the load characteristics, e.g., for machines with motors or circuits with high inrush current. The delayed short‑circuit trigger operates in the range 375–6300 A, providing flexibility in responding to short‑duration currents without unnecessary tripping. Instantaneous short‑circuit protection is adjustable from 3× to 11× Iu — enabling rapid response to extreme faults.
It is suitable for operation at voltages from 220 V to 690 V AC, and its short‑circuit withstand rating is 50 kA at 400 V — making it appropriate for industrial and commercial installations with high safety requirements. For lower voltages (e.g., 230 V) this rating increases to 85 kA — however, in typical installations the 50 kA rating at the standard 400 V is used.
The unit has four poles and front‑mounted screw terminals — easy to install and inspect. The terminals accept both copper and aluminum conductors. The tightening torque is exactly 18 Nm — no more, no less. There are no auxiliary contacts or status indicators apart from the built‑in trip indicator, which clearly shows the physical state of the device.
IP40 protection class safeguards against solid objects larger than 1 mm — sufficient for interior of a switchgear. It is not intended for DIN‑rail mounting nor for outdoor use. Operating temperature ranges from –25 °C to +70 °C — suitable even in harsh technical conditions.
All functions are integrated — no additional modules are required for basic operation. However, it can be optionally equipped with: an A‑type residual‑current device, an auxiliary contact block, or an under‑voltage release — if additional functionality is needed.
Release time is approximately 10 ms — typical speed for switches of this class. Total loss power is about 119 W at rated current — influencing ventilation requirements in the distribution cabinet.
