The ADM420QC residual current device with overcurrent protection is an advanced protective device that combines the functions of an overcurrent circuit breaker and a residual current device in a single modular housing. It provides comprehensive protection against electric shock as well as overloads and short circuits in three-phase installations.

Design and electrical parameters

The device features a rated current of 20 A and a rated residual current of 30 mA, making it an ideal solution for lighting and socket circuits. Type B tripping characteristic ensures an immediate response to overloads in the range of 3 to 5 In, guaranteeing rapid circuit disconnection in dangerous situations.

A rated breaking capacity of 6 kA provides effective protection even during severe short circuits, and type A enables the detection of both sinusoidal and pulsating direct currents. The device operates at a voltage of 230-400 V AC at a frequency of 50 Hz, offering insulation at a level of 500 V and an impulse withstand voltage of 4 kV.

Operating conditions and safety

The circuit breaker maintains full functionality across a wide temperature range from -25°C to +40°C, allowing for installation in various environmental conditions. The IP20 protection rating protects against contact with live parts, and the energy limiting class I²t = 3 minimizes the effects of short circuits by limiting the energy flowing through the device.

The device features the possibility of mounting in any position (360°), which significantly facilitates installation in distribution boards. Total power loss is 11.7 W at rated current, ensuring energy efficiency during normal operation.

Installation, compatibility, and regulatory compliance

The modular design occupies a standard 4 modules (71 mm width) and is mounted on a DIN rail. The device is equipped with a modern connection system:

• Upper connection: QuickConnect - a spring-loaded quick connection for flexible and solid conductors with a cross-section of 1.5-4.0 mm²
• Lower connection: BiConnect - a traditional screw system for greater installation flexibility

The standard tightening torque is 2 Nm, ensuring secure electrical connections. The ability to easily dismantle a single device from a collective phase busbar facilitates servicing and installation modernization.

The product meets the requirements of the EN 61009-1 standard, guaranteeing the highest electrical safety standards. Mechanical durability is 4000 cycles, and electrical durability is 2000 cycles, ensuring long-term operational reliability. The device features a mechanical lock and the possibility of labeling directly on the housing, facilitating identification in the distribution board.
