SPD Surge Protective Device T2 2P 2+0 TN-S/TT network In=40kA Imax=40kA Up≤1.35kV SPE240

Two-pole surge protection in AC installations

T2 type surge arrester (class II) designed for installation in residential, commercial, and industrial building switchboards. The 2P 2+0 configuration means two independent protection circuits without a common fuse - each pole operates autonomously, increasing the reliability of the entire system. The device supports TN-S (separated N and PE conductors) and TT (transformer grounding and separate grounding of receivers) configurations, making it suitable for both older installations and new facilities.

The nominal discharge current In = 20 kA (8/20 μs) is a value determined during standard testing - this is the amount of energy the device can safely discharge multiple times. The maximum discharge current Imax = 40 kA represents the upper limit of the protection capability. In practice, this means that even during a strong lightning impulse, the arrester will effectively absorb the energy, protecting connected receivers - from switchboard accessories to household appliances.

Operating parameters and protection effectiveness

The maximum continuous operating voltage Uc = 275 V AC defines the highest operating voltage at which the arrester remains in standby mode without activation. The nominal installation voltage is 415 V AC, which corresponds to standard three-phase systems found in European distribution networks.

The protection level (residual voltage) is:&br/>* L-N: ≤ 1.35 kV - protects receivers between phase and neutral,

  • N-PE: ≤ 1.5 kV - discharges the surge between neutral and ground.

The lower residual voltage at L-N is a significant feature - the smaller this value, the less energy will reach the protected equipment. With a typical sensitivity threshold for electronic devices around 1-1.5 kV, the 1.35 kV value provides a safety margin for most installations.

Short-circuit strength at Isccr = 50 kA is the ability to withstand short-circuit current until the overcurrent protection acts - an important parameter when designing protection selectivity.

Construction, signaling, and operating conditions

The device occupies 2 modules on a DIN TH35 rail, allowing for easy installation in standard switchboards. Optical signaling informs about the module's wear - when the indicator changes color or disappears, the cartridge must be replaced with a new one. The lack of a remote signaling contact means this model is primarily intended for facilities where the surge arrester status is monitored visually during periodic inspections.

The enclosure protection rating IP2XC means:&br/>* IP2X - protection against solid objects >12.5 mm (finger),

  • C - diameter of ventilation holes or slots ≤ Ø12 mm,
  • no water resistance - installation only inside dry switchboards.

Maximum cross-sections of connected conductors:&br/>* single-/multi-wire rigid: up to 50 mm²,

  • flexible (stranded): up to 35 mm².

Recommended overcurrent protection is a fuse or circuit breaker:&br/>* up to 315 A with shunt connection (Stich),

  • up to 80 A with V-type connection.

The device weight is only 230 g, which facilitates transport and installation even in hard-to-reach places. The enclosure meets the requirements of eClass 11.0 (27130805) and UNSPSC (39121613) classifications, facilitating product identification in ordering and warehouse systems.
