Chain guide cable – reliability in demanding conditions
This shielded chain cable HELUKABEL SHIPFLEX 512 is a solution designed to operate in harsh conditions, especially in applications requiring high flexibility and resistance to external factors. The cable is distinguished by its high quality and meets stringent standards, including UL Style 20234, which guarantees safety and reliability. It is ideal for use in the marine industry, but will also perform well in other demanding industrial environments.
Construction and properties
The key to the cable's durability and functionality is its advanced construction. Copper conductors, made in accordance with DIN VDE 0295 cl.6, BS 6360 cl.6 and IEC 60228 cl.6 standards, are characterized by high flexibility thanks to the multi-wire structure (class 6). The conductors are insulated with a special material and numbered for easy identification. In addition, a yellow-green protective conductor ensures safe use. Parallel twisted conductors minimize interference and ensure optimal signal transmission. The whole is surrounded by a screen made of tinned copper wires (coverage approx. 85%), which effectively protects against electromagnetic interference (EMC). A durable outer jacket made of polyurethane (PUR) provides resistance to abrasion, oils, UV radiation and extreme temperatures.
This cable has a number of important features:
- Resistance to extreme temperatures: Flexibility in the range of -40°C to +80°C and the possibility of stationary use in the same temperature range.
- Safety: Flame retardancy according to DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2/ IEC 60332-1 and halogen-free according to DIN VDE 0482 part 267/ DIN EN 50267-2-1/IEC 60754-1.
- Chemical resistance: Oil resistance according to IEC 60092-350, Annex F.
- Durability: Resistance to weathering, ozone and UV radiation – ideal solution for outdoor applications.
- Compatibility: Meets the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking).
User parameters and application
The SHIPFLEX 512 cable with a conductor cross-section of 4 mm² (approximate AWG12 size) has seven conductors and an outer diameter of approximately 16.3 mm. It is metered, which makes it easy to precisely adjust the length to the needs of the installation. Thanks to its properties, it is perfectly suited for use in chain guide systems, industrial robotics and all kinds of applications requiring high flexibility and resistance to external factors – especially in marine environments or exposed to oils and chemicals. For optimal protection against EMC interference, it is recommended to mount a large round connector with a copper braid on both ends of the cable screen.
