Compensating cable for temperature measurement
This shielded compensating cable of type R/S, designated as R/SCSiLSiek 1x2x0.22, is designed for reliable connection of thermocouples to measuring systems. Construction and properties
The cable has conductors made of special metals or metal alloys, insulated with silicone. The silicone insulation provides a wide operating temperature range – from -60°C to +180°C – allowing for use in demanding applications. Additionally, the cable is shielded with tinned copper (CuSn), which minimizes electromagnetic interference and ensures a stable measurement signal. The 1x2x0.22 construction indicates a single pair of conductors with a cross-section of 0.22 mm². A braid of tinned copper wires further protects the cable against mechanical damage. The whole is surrounded by a silicone jacket, which provides resistance to chemical and atmospheric factors.
Applications and compatibility
Compensating cables, such as this model, are used to extend the signal from a thermocouple to a safe receiver. Thermocouples can operate in extreme conditions – even at temperatures exceeding 1000°C – therefore it is important to use an appropriate compensating cable to connect them to the measuring system. This cable is compatible with type R thermocouples (PtRh13-Pt) with a temperature range from 0°C to 1600°C according to IEC 584-3. The possibility of ordering control cables (from 1 to 25 conductors with a cross-section of 0.5 - 2.5 mm²) increases functionality and allows integration with control systems. Additionally, it is possible to manufacture cables with a special construction tailored to individual customer needs.
