Compensating lead for temperature measurement – reliability in harsh conditions

This compensating lead of type R/S, designated as R/SCWSLWSu 2x1.5, is a key element of temperature measurement systems, especially in demanding industrial applications. The construction with fiberglass and a galvanized steel wire braid provides exceptional strength and resistance to extreme conditions. This lead is designed to connect and extend thermocouples, enabling precise temperature readings even in aggressive and high-temperature environments.

Construction and properties ensuring durability

The lead is constructed of two conductors, made of special metals or alloys, insulated with a material suitable for the operating temperature range. Fiberglass insulation guarantees resistance to temperatures up to 400°C, and the galvanized steel wire braid provides mechanical protection against damage. The oval shape of the lead makes it easier to lay and mount. The weight of 1 meter of lead is 0.1394 kg, and the outer diameter is 6 mm.

Compensating leads, unlike thermoelectric leads (extension leads), use substitute materials in the conductors, allowing for economical extension of the thermoelectric signal without loss of measurement accuracy. This makes it possible to transfer the signal from the measurement point (often exposed to extreme conditions) to a safe signal receiver.
