This blue flexible cable OB-BL-P-CY 4x2x0.5 is designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, where high resistance to electromagnetic interference is required. The construction with twisted pairs and copper braided shielding provides reliable protection against external and internal electromagnetic fields. Ideal for intrinsically safe systems, it meets VDE 0165 and IEC 60079-14 standards.
Construction and application
This cable is particularly useful in installations where electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is critical. By optimizing the contact of the copper braid with the terminals (e.g., cable glands), its EMC properties can be further improved. Made of high-quality materials, it ensures durability and reliability in harsh industrial conditions. The cable complies with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, confirming its safety and compliance with European standards.
- Conductors: Copper, un-tinned, stranded flexible class 5 (DIN VDE 0295 / IEC 60228), providing flexibility and resistance to mechanical fatigue.
- Insulation: PVC (DIN VDE 0207-363-3 / DIN EN 50363-3 type TI2), guaranteeing good electrical insulation and resistance to chemicals.
- Twisting: Pairs of wires twisted in a way that optimizes the reduction of interference.
- Shielding: Braid of tinned copper wires (approx. 85% coverage density), effectively protecting against electromagnetic interference.

Parameters and properties
The cable is characterized by a conductor cross-section of 0.5 mm², a rated voltage of up to 900V, and an allowable operating temperature range of -30°C to +80°C (stationary) and -10°C to +80°C (flexible). It is resistant to oil and does not contain silicone, cadmium or substances that hinder painting. The minimum bending radius is 10x cable diameter during flexible operation and 5x cable diameter for fixed installation. Mutual capacitance conductor/conductor is approximately 105 pF/m at 800 Hz, and conductor/screen approximately 145 pF/m. Inductance is approximately 0.68 mH/km and coupling resistance at 30 MHz is approximately 250 Ohm/km. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 9 mm.
