Flexible cable for applications requiring high mechanical strength
This grey flexible cable 500V m.FLEX 512-PUR 4G16, made with halogen-free PUR insulation, is designed to operate in harsh conditions, especially in energy chains. It is characterized by high flexibility and resistance to external factors, making it an ideal solution for both professional installers and end users. The cable is metered and supplied in grey color (RAL 7001).
Construction and properties
This cable stands out with its special construction, which ensures reliability and long-lasting operation. It consists of four cores with a cross-section of 16 mm², made of un-tinned copper, twisted into a flexible strand class 6. The cores are insulated with modified PP, and their identification is done using white digits applied on a black background. The yellow-green protective conductor is placed externally (from 3 cores). The whole is surrounded by a special outer jacket made of polyurethane (PUR), providing resistance to abrasion, tearing and the action of oils. The lack of shielding eliminates the risk of electromagnetic interference in some applications.
This cable is designed to operate in a wide temperature range – from -40°C to +80°C during stationary operation and from -30°C to +80°C during flexible operation. The minimum bending radius is 5x cable diameter for flexible operation and 3x cable diameter for fixed installation. It exhibits high resistance to UV radiation, ozone, acids, alkalis and hydraulic fluids. The cable complies with IEC 60332-1-2 standards regarding fire behavior and has a test voltage of 3000 V and an insulation resistance of min. 100 MOhm x km.
Applications and benefits
The m.FLEX 512-PUR cable is particularly recommended for use in mechanical engineering, robotics and moving parts of machines, where frequent bending is required. Thanks to its construction and properties, it performs perfectly in installations exposed to high mechanical loads and dynamic movements. The low adhesion of the PUR outer jacket minimizes friction of the insulated PP cores, which translates into a longer cable life even with extreme bending use. In addition, the materials used in production do not contain silicone or cadmium, or substances that interfere with painting, making it a more ecological choice.
